Wonder if the labels, when providing music to spotify is giving them
some modern "production values" to compete in the never ending loudness
race.

radio has always had special mixes and promos not indended for sale for
ages.
In the good old LP days I had some for radio only maxi singles .

FM stations grind their stuff thru these wile devices "optimod
multiband compressors"

There is simply no way to tell if you did not encode decode the files
yourself from the same source .

When the difference is very big, the chances are that it's not the same
mix you are hearing

btw do spotify provide rg tags ?
