This is harmless given a modern amp, suppose some tubed power amp with output transformer could fry ? But then the distortion, noise lack of damping factor and load depended frequency response from such a thing would overwhelm the tiny source differences by several magnitudes anyway :-/ (note tubed preamp can perform well it's the power amps that's have most problems). Measuring the preamp output is also an option . Or spl meter measuring the actual output in the room. -- Mnyb -------------------------------------------------------------------- Main hifi: Touch + CIA PS +MeridianG68J MeridianHD621 and assorted amps SiriuS, Classe' Primare and Dynadio speakers, Contour 4 Contour Center, and Contour 1.3SE for the rear ch.
