Hi, I'm a bit late in this thread, sorry. This tip may not be for you as it involves a modification to the Touch. Removing (bypassing) the electrolytic capacitors on the analog output of the Touch made a dramatic improvement in sound quality (to my ears). John Swensson has written about this several times in various posts and I can confirm that this makes a big difference in the direction you describe in the quote above. With the capacitors in place I found the sound to be veiled and generally uninvolving, a bit grainy, but not harsh. After the removal the sound is open, transparent with better dynamic performance and not grainy at all. Note: I have implemented some of soundcheck's software tweaks, but I am still letting the Touch receive flac files as I use BrutefirDRC. I have not yet found a way to use PCM here, but I've tried streaming PCM to the Touch and the difference is quite clear when using the internal DAC. No electrolytics and PCM streaming would be very good indeed. -- OGS Vortexbox - Touch - Tact RCS 2.0 - Rotel RB-1060 (mod) - Tannoy Sensys DC1 (mod) ------------------------------------------------------------------------ OGS's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=32981 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=82539 _______________________________________________ audiophiles mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/audiophiles
