Hi, If your supply to the V-dac is a stable, low ripple supply it will definetly be better than the V-dac supplied power supply.
The Vovox was quite expensive (£135 for 1m with Eichmann bullets). Your experience with the Analog outputs being variable is what some people have noticed with their Touch, hence some are using ultra stable PSU's and other's are reducing the computing load or switching off the screen to stop variablity within the Touch's power rails. The Digital output is less sensitive to this load variation because it is digital. Keep things simple, make sure your connectors have good contact ie tight to get on and off the RCA ports. Make sure your speaker cable has good clean contact points, ie has the wire oxidised? then trim it back. Try retighting the connections to the speakers. Is the cable too long? is it coiled tightly? does it run near power cables? is it longer on one side than the other? Try and see what cables give you the best sound out of your Touch digital rather than spending time on the Analog side of the Touch. 1) Check speaker cable contacts, equal length and route, no tight coils. 2) Ensure good tight RCA contacts for feed into amp 3) ensure god tight RCA contacts feed Touch to V-dac. If experimenting with cables: 1) Try to borrow different Analog cables to try for V-Dac output. 2) DO THEY MAKE A DIFFERENCE ON YOUR cd PLAYER TOO? 3) After burning in your chosen Cables feeding your amp for a couple of days then try digital cables for the Touch feeding to V-dac. Do you have any mains filters supplying (protecting) your whole HIFI? It could be that your mains supply is noisy and that noise varies during the day, therbye (despite the SBooster) it affects the Analog more than the Digital at certain times. It might be worth running your HIFI of a Filtered power block. Try the cheap solutions first, its less painful if it doesnt work.
