The reason I claim that modded Touch into Gatorized Beresford Caiman
DAC is high-end is very simple: when I compare that configuration
side-by-side with Linn Akurate digital streaming player, I can't hear
how is Linn Akurate better in any way. What that means is that today,
$4,000.00 (Linn Akurate's retail sticker price tag) gets beaten by the
$650.00 that you pay for modded Touch + Gatorized Caiman DAC.

Obviously, if you go to some esoteric heights and buy a $12,000.00 DAC,
you may get to the point where it beats Gatorized Caiman. But I'm not
talking ultra high-end here, merely high-end.
