External Cat5e ? Yes, there is proper external cable. The sheathing is non reactive to UV. Only just come across the thread - Cat5e is more than happy running at gigabit speeds under normal conditions. I instal this stuff for a living. I've only once had to instal Cat6e in order to get gigabit working, and the company in question had an electrified railway line running along the back of the building, so RFI was a major factor in their case.
