Even years ago (I probably have one of the first HDMI 1080P TV's) the
big box wonks said HDMI switches were flaky.

I've since been using a 5 into 1 for the past 3 years or so. The
"other" HDMI into my TV won't work on the switch. It is a 30' cable
from my PC (in the same general room.)

Anyway, Logitech RC takes care of that and more.

It seems (lately) that even modern HDMI switches have issues. This
seems to pronounce itself when anything in the HDMI chain has an
inkling of Dolby(r) or other encoding.

Can anybody summarize (for us idiots) how all these protocols break
playback on mixed mode systems? For example, a Marantz HDMI receiver
provided no sound to an LG plasma TV UNTIL the Dolby(r) option was
unchecked in the receiver.

Thanks for y'all time and attention.
