another way of thinking that I have come to trust is the idea of DIY. I
havent done a DIY speaker since I built my Speaker Labs in the mid
70's. That was based on horns and a 8" and 12" woofer. With the drivers
available today you could build a great set of bookshelfs for a
reasonable cash outlay. I would probably look at a ribbon
tweeter/midrange with a high quality 8" or 10" woofer. Parts Express
would be a good place to start. When I'm done with my pans I may go
that route. I recently replaced my 12" HSU subwoofer driver with a
Pierless driver from Parts Express. Very satisfied with that.
