No problem - happy to help! Comparing analogue output from a DAC against the source rip is a whole different - and VERY interesting topic. I'm doing some work on this at the moment; hoping to publish something soon. Early on I discovered that it is hard to get a low null on this... which implies that what comes out as the analogue signal is rather different to the one IMPLIED by the bits. I also discovered that different DAC's produce very different results. If I ever got a null > 70 (or lower than -70) this would indicate that the analogue signal from the DAC is a very accurate representation of what is captured in the PCM data. HOWEVER, what has become starkly apparent is that DAC's have their own sonic signature - they certainly don't all sound or measure the same! What I really need is access to a wider set of equipment (DAC's), but I'm not a magazine reviewer...and I'm not sure my conclusions would be very popular... I also need another Touch... More to come on this topic when I get more time. Not sure how I'm going to finance this :-) Alternatively, anyone with a decent soundcard and a Windows PC can test their own DAC with ADM against a wav rip.
