A question about equalizing, not meant to start an audiophile discussion
about the cons of equalizing.

I need some tone control in my hifi system.
I read something about software room correction and about Inguz' eq.
program.
Another option is to just buy a Behringer Deq2496 and use it in the
digital domain between Squeezebox and Dac.

I have very little knowledge of digital audio, but I read if no
re-sampling is done in the digital domain there will be no(t much) loss
of quality.

I don't need much correction, only a few dB's gain around 150Hz to give
some more warmth in the sound. The rest is ok.

What is, given the fact that equalizing always degrades the signal, the
best way to do it? With a Behringer or with a software solution?

Also when I might use high resolution files in the future, will the
Behrininger handle these files?

A software solution maybe would be best because I want to have as less
as possible audio-boxes in my room.

I was thinking about a software equalizer with presets which are
recalled based on Tag info. Imagine you can add a custom tag in a music
file which the equalizer would use to recall a preset. I have many bad
music recordings (like some 80's rock) which could use a bass and mid
boost. But I guess there is no plugin for that.

Anybody knows what is the best road for to go?
