I always remind folks the Transporter is also a nice DAC with several
inputs. Even with no USB input, a USB to SPDIF converter makes the
Transporter a versatile piece of equipment still. I think the DAC will
do resolutions up to 24/96.

Sean designed the Transporter with a fine analog output section. Most
folks don't bother using a seperate DAC with the Tranporter. Many
audiophiles use the Touch to feed an external DAC, many do not. Now
that I usually use my phone to control my squeezeboxen, the differences
in the interfaces on the players becomes essentially irrelevant.

I think the Transporter is still a fine piece of audiophile gear, while
the Touch probably plays in a league well above its price.

Transporter -> Bryston BP25MC preamp -> M&K (R.I.P.) MPS 2510 active
monitors + M&K MPS 5410 subwoofer.
Also a Sota Nova tt with Graham 2.2 arm & Benz Ace HO feeding into
BP25MC.
