It's an intriguing question. The problem seems to be that the idea has been implanted in audiophiles that toslink is inherently inferior. This is curious because the same audiophiles are happy to spend a fortune on cables and transports designed to minimise problems of noise and impedance which toddling solves at a stroke. As a matter of interest John do you know whether the better sort of receiver is available NOS? Also what do dcs, esoteric , wadia etc use for their toslink receivers.
