Perhaps the reason that such unreasonableness comes out on the pages of
so many, no make that ALL, the high end audio magazines is less about
insanity and more about money. Here's what I mean:

In the case of my favorite bit of nonsense, high priced USB and HDMI
cables, once the notion that the high priced cables sound better has
first been stated and then accepted as truth it now becomes easy for
the cable manufacturers to roll out a line of cables and, this is the
important part, take out advertisements in these magazines. It's a
win-win in that the magazines get much needed ad revenue and the cable
manufacturers make huge profits.

Once it is stated that different hard drives (I'm sure that claims for
flash drives will soon follow) "sound" different and then this BS is
accepted as truth, someone will come out with a hard or flash drive
specially made of audio and which "sounds" better than all other hard
or flash drives. Another win-win.
