Would not surprise me a bit :)

In Audiophile lore such DAC would have very "high resolution" making it
possible to hear differences between cables and digital sources in
general ;)

They do like designs that are sensitive to noise, powersuplies, rfi emi
etc microphony and so on .

Examples some very simple amp designs with very low feedback does not
reject powersupply noise very well and are in general sensitive to the
voltage level being exact etc .
This would then be taken as an argument for how important power-supply
design is ?

Audiophilia is full of similar circle arguments .

Much of the cargo cult designed stuff , facilitates self fulfilling
prophecies on for example how important digital cables or [insert
whatever] is

*We must limit our arguments to competently designed equipment* , (not
for example amps that oscillate to destruction with the wrong
speaker-cable)

I think this is verytragic, they are reliving the 50's 60's and 70's
having audible artifacts no one would expect anymore.
Impedance miss-match and interface problem in the analog domain ?

The cult brand Holfi have for example managed to design a CD player in
the 90's who distorts quite much if not the preamp input impedance is
*not* about 800Ohm so it does not perform well in other setting than
their own preamps? (who ofcourse use this odd input impedance )

I don't think this is unique at all.
Cult brands are all to happy to oblique the actually make equipment
that are up to audiophiles demented expectations ,)

Another poster on this forum had a tube preamp that started to distort
at input voltages above 0,2V duh ?
