Some thoughts: 1. Is replaygain enabled when streaming? If it is, then that is almost certainly the source of the difference you hear.
2. Have you done this comparison blind? If not, all bets are off. You may simply be expecting to hear a difference (and therefore you do). 3. The TP does not have sophisticated jitter-reduction features on its digital inputs.
