The first great digital recording I ever owned was Dire Straits' Brothers in Arms. I was still in college and had a low/moderate Pioneer rack stereo system. I could not stop playing that CD mostly because of the talent but partly because of the quality of the recording. When I upgraded to the current system the recording and music has stood the test of time. To me, it's just simply a great performance and recording. The next recording/performance that many years later had a similar effect is Eric Clapton Unplugged. I still have company request that I play the CD or at least a track or two.
