Hmm, I have to say that my own computer based setup - Macbook Pro with LOTS of memory, Amarra, Async (!) USB to rDAC into my Krell amplifier - still beats any of the Squeezebox Touch setups I tried and which I also keep using. And I tried a lot: SBT with and without the Toolbox, SBT with and without linear power adapters, SBT with and without an extremely high-quality clock inside. I even fried the insides of an SBT in the name of scientific progress ;) This will all be system dependent, obviously, and the key link in my case may be that the rDAC offers a very good async USB implementation, while its SPDIF jitter control is pretty much non-existent. Don't troll me: I have already been told that, in theory, no amount jitter control performed by Amarra&Co should make a difference via async USB. Still, Amarra as well as Pure Music as well as the free offerings (Audirvana) make a non-subtle and sometimes huge difference in my setup.
