And indeed, that was the problem.

For some reason the Transporter had lost it's ethernet setting.  Before
actually reading this post, I decided to check setup on the Transporter,
and re-set it to Ethernet.  Voila! Everything worked.

The remaining issue is why the Receiver (connected via wifi) should
have not worked just because the TP was incorrectly set.  The Boom was
still working.  In any event, after resetting the TP everything is back
online.  

I guess I'll upgrade now.  Maybe.  In a bit.
