depending on what program is playing the audio (fb2000, etc.) the
controller whether ipad/iphone etc. would have to control that player,
which is independent of whether it is a mac mini, windows laptop, etc.
There is a bit of a clunky controller for the iphone/itouch that will
control foobar2000, but last time I tried it somehow had quit working
and I'm not sure it is still maintained. (and of course foobar2000
doesn't run natively on a Mac).

But even this issue aside, I'd still miss the ability to have a single
location for my music that would serve different players throughout my
home (not to mention the lack of ability to occasionally sync those
players).

p.s. the creator of dbpoweramp (Spoon) has what seems to be a nice DLNA
server (called ASSET) that is about ready to come out of beta. You can
download it from the dbpa site.  Seems a lot of LINN users have tried
it.
