Makes sense. But I think it also makes sense to allow for a bit of
random trial-and-error, you know just stirring up some shit, do a bit
of brainstorming, record one's findings, and if the findings turn out
to be significant, focus one's attention on trying to find a feasible
explanation that would be supported by the time honored principle of
Occam's Razor. Before you know it, you might get yourself a new
scientific theory;)

The point being that, unlike the apparently prevailing sentimentality
at large, not all the scientific theories have already been formulated,
nor have we reached the absolute end of scientific and engineering
inventions. There are many uncharted territories to explore. Or, some
of us may fancy things being that way.
