I'm suspicious of replacing science with mysticism someone mentioned Audionote they are also a prime offender . But this mix is also common, normally reliable producers that offers a voodoo product ? For example Quad and luxman brings replicas of their yesteryear's products . I would not mistrust these guys but go for their more modern offerings. audiophiles buy those so why not go for the low hanging fruit, you get the very high prices ? Just make it look pretty and make sure the right kind of fables are spread about it . The audiophile cargo cult brands are introducing artifacts, it is a sound effect, there is no hidden mystery of unmeasurable quantities that somehow dissipate in modern electronics . You can make a diff measurement of output-input=0 (almost) ,for most modern electronics, this is not a static measurement just play a whole song and calculate the difference where is the mystery ? does it come trough the ether or Phlogiston . I think we need reliable information about what is real and what is cargo cult . There is a very real lack of such info, Audiocritic is mentioned in another tread... Also note the "" mark around "listening" if these people truly designed by listening and not "listening".Listening with controlled blind abx test such as harman international and other serious companies are doing the result would be different . Sighted "Listening" and imagine different sound from components would yield a product almost design by random chance ? Sometimes you build in more euphonic thd and noise and sometimes you do nothing at all with the part swap and sometimes you get small positive improvement but the "listening" designer would not know the difference.
