About that early Dire Straits pressing... It's been suspected that the disk should have been tagged with pre-emphasis. I have a copy of that early pressing as well and it sounds much better with de-emphasis processed through SOX. "So Far Away" DR value drops to 18 from 20 after the de-emphasis BTW.
