First off, let me say that I am not an audiophile. But I would
appreciate advice from those of you who are. I am looking to purchase
my first standalone DAC for use with my Squeezebox Classic. One that
also functions as a headphone amp would be nice (I currently have one
of those cheap Bravo tube amps), but it's not absolutely essential.

I'd like to find something for under $300. My goal is to find an
entry-level DAC that will improve my listening experience. I'm not
ready to commit to something high-end (and I don't have the funds to do
so), but I also don't want to buy something that's inexpensive yet
simply a waste of money.

I've come across the following. I'd appreciate any thoughts (positive
or negative) regarding these choices. And if anyone has suggestions
not included here, that would be great too.

Maverick Audio TubeMagic D1
Maverick Audio TubeMagic D2
Aune X-1
Ross Martin Audio PCM1794A
Emotiva XDA-1
Beresford Caiman TC-7520SE
Audio-GD NFB-12
Audio-GD NFB-12.1

Thanks very much for the help.

Kristen
