It costs nothing to try experimenting! Seems entirely possible that you can get the soundstage, and imaging you're looking for, with careful positioning, as well as perhaps some treatment of early reflection points as others have noted. One needn't spend a fortune on room treatments, when a a couple of ATS panels (as noted by DAVERZ) are placed at FRPs. The ATS panels are easy to look at, super affordable, and very effective!
Tilt & Toe-In of the speakers must be considered also. Generally, plan to adjust the Tilt & Toe-In of your speakers so as to aim the tweeter at your ear. Take physical measurements, and strive for accuracy! This can really make a big difference! Lastly...don't forget the "Stereo Triangle"...whereas the distance between the speakers, is exactly the same as the distance to the listener when seated in the Sweet Spot. It's an old concept, but it works! Good Luck! I hope you achieve the results you want. -- Curt962 Life is precious. I've been to the edge, and learned that God is my friend.
