There's a very good guide from Realtraps, which says to actually start by fixing your listening position first, then fine-tune speaker placement second.
http://www.realtraps.com/art_room-setup.htm Fire down the long axis of the room, and move your couch to 38% of the room length, measured from the front wall. This is considered a good starting point to eliminate the effects of room modes and bass nulls (these are mathematically worst at the halfway point/in the middle of the room). It's always best to keep the speakers as far as possible from the side walls, but wide enough to where you feel you have a good stereo image, and you can still sit at the top of a broadly equilateral triangle in your listening position. So, find a good listening position first, then move things literally inch by inch by taste. You can also experiment with toe-in, starting with none, to a little bit. Again, to your taste. I second what Daverz said to look into acoustic panels on the first reflection points on the side walls roughly halfway between the speakers and your couch (also described on the same article I linked). -- alec_cat ------------------------------------------------------------------------ alec_cat's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=48527 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=93802 _______________________________________________ audiophiles mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/audiophiles
