I still gotta say that 0.6 as heard here has something "special" to it. I don't know how to describe it, but if the sound was an object I might say "sophisticated/luxury". It feels very pleasant and personal. I have some doubt about the accuracy of this sound, but I do like being coddled in it so far. Not too hard and not too soft, just right. Some very good clarity too.
0.7 sound reminds me a lot of the *default* TT3.0 sound (with same audio system), except perhaps with a tad more bass. I actually do think that TT3.0 sound was quite accurate to what the original discs were, but I found it hard to listen to for very long with the type of music *I* have. 0.5 reminds me of a generally better version of my setup of TT3.0 with Logitech priorities and a 5k alsa buffer. One thing I could uniquely do with the TT3.0 though was to disassemble the production of the recording, at least in my mind. I thought I could tell exactly where each person in that bg chorus was standing (and how tall they were lol), exactly where each instrument was in 3D, etc. Of course I'm talking of where the engineers mixed and overlaid the tracks to give those effects. Sometimes I can hear that overlaid tracks were of different qualities, or were clearly recorded in a different environment. etc. Is hearing (or imagining to be hearing) these things a good or bad attribute? Anyway, this 0.5 and the TT3.0 configured as mentioned are pretty stout IMO, I could happily have lived with either. But then you went and showed me even "better"... 0.5, 0.6, 0.7: only default options used, and only S/PDIF output (coax) So yes, I do find a diff among the EDO versions. :) ------------------------------------------------------------------------ cfraser's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=48869 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=94855 _______________________________________________ audiophiles mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/audiophiles
