Even though AudioEngine's FAQ says the opposite is true, when connecting their D1 DAC to a Touch it does so in ASYNCH mode as witnessed by the fact that you can watch the instantaneous sample rate cycle flip back and forth between too much and too little. I can tell you that this DAC performs significantly above expectations for its price point, but not to a silly extent that would make $1000+ DACs redundant.
With a small self-powered hub in series with a Touch, this DAC can form part of an inexpensive but surprisingly good headphone rig. I have one on my nightstand and one next to my work computer. You can certainly do better for more money, but the D1 is a very good value at its price point. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ dsdreamer's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=12588 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=94855 _______________________________________________ audiophiles mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/audiophiles
