Balanced (vs unbalanced) is an analog connection concept (at least in this context). Don't confuse the fact that AES cable connectors may be identical to balanced analog cable connectors. I recall there is a AES digital out on the transporter (not sure), so if you are using this (and NOT the balanced analog outs) you're using the DAC of your preamp (not the Transporter). So be careful about this. p.s. If it sounds good to you that's all that matters, but John Swenson or Phil Leigh (who know *way* more than I know about all things audio and digital) have posted previously about why the AES digital out is typically NOT preferred when one has either S/PDIF coax or toslink Optical connection available (in spite of what some audiophile sites discuss). As one of them previously reported, AES was never about high quality; rather it was about a way to reuse all those long cables in studios, etc. that already had the connectors. I only know what I've read about this. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ garym's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=17325 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=96792 _______________________________________________ audiophiles mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/audiophiles
