Thanks I have just tried a factory reset with no joy. What was interesting however was That I set up an Ethernet connection and then tried to update the firmware. It tried to upload very slowly and then gave up so it looks as though it is not buffering correctly through Ethernet. Changing to wireless allowed an immediate and rapid update. I' m all out of ideas now!
