Yes, it is interesting that people tend to talk about the differences
using similar descriptions. It is troubling to me in that I wouldn't
expect any differences in the physical interconnect to survive a journey
through the buffering/up sampling process inside my player as this is
very effective at removing input jitter.

I also like the the touch for the same 'architectural' reasons you do.
We do loose some of the benefits of asynchronous operation and a single
clock domain when using an external DAC unfortunately.
