The one person I know who has a "better", i.e. more expensive, audio
system than I have has his system and room setup so that one is rather
close to the massive Dunlavy speakers when listening. So even though his
system should sound better than mine to me it does not sound better
because I do not like sitting that close to the speakers. However his
system can play much, much louder than my system can but since I rarely
play my own system anywhere near maximum volume that point is moot.

Another point worth mentioning is that my friend is always upgrading
something or other on his system and then declaring that the upgrade
makes a night and day difference and of course when I finally get to
hear his new and vastly improved system it sound just like it did the
last time I hear it. On the plus side my friend has plenty of money so
he can afford to play the upgrade game and his spending money does help
the overall economy.
