Audio is not an exception. I think this discussion will continue to go round in circles until the real underlying issue is resolved, which is that there is absolutely no difference between the losslessly compressed file and the uncompressed file at the point where the data stream enters the DAC (as pointed out by Mnyb in the first quote above).
