With the on going high end audio price spiral quickly reaching insane levels, e.g. state of the speakers are now $200K/pair, power amps at $50K, pre-amps at $50K, CD/SACD players at $100K, etc., I think in that context a mere $700 should be considered "not expensive". Just don't expect to see rave reviews of Emotiva equipment any time soon from the audio rags or if they do review some Emotiva equipment the reviews will be sure to point out how the Emotiva falls short of true reference quality.
