I may make a prediction a $30k DAC of high end breed may very likely performe worse due the "voodo engineering" used :) The so called development in "serious audio industry" the latest decades has very often been going of tangents not very well substantiated by any objective means . Serious audio industry ( whiteout "") is to me the pro audio sector and chip manufacturers ,DAC chips op amps etc . The high end sector has contributed very little outside of the fantasy realm ( stocking up the emperors wardrobe with new cloth ). The above is a sweeping generalisation , but you get it , there is ofcourse a spectrum, a very scientific company Like B&W is not the same as some garage outfit peddling single ended triode amps . It can be that the best performance is in the midfi segment reasonable priced gear built by traditional engineering skills . I do like companies that have both inexpensive and expensive stuff , goes to show that they know how to manufacture stuff rationally, no I'm not particularly impressed by claims on how many man hours they use to put it together :) ( there have been ads by speaker mfg describing the x hours of work by a skilled carpenter bla bla ) -------------------------------------------------------------------- Main hifi: Touch + CIA PS +MeridianG68J MeridianHD621 MeridianG98DH 2 x MeridianDSP5200 MeridianDSP5200HC 2 xMeridianDSP3100 +Rel Stadium 3 sub.
