There is a very simple answer to this problem. Car stereo systems usually only support the FAT32 file system. And most of them take this literally, which means that they will only read the 'first' 32 GB. I stumbled into the exact same trap when I tried to be absolutely super-smart by investing into a 256 GB stick ... grrrmpf ...
