Placebo is well known, but could somebody perhaps recommend some good research regarding flaws in auditory perception? And has anyone seen classes outside the university world, where they teach the principles of the scientific method? They could perhaps advance the world a bit. I have a strong feeling that science nowadays has advanced so far, that it's almost impossible to understand or even believe how far it's come and how much knowledge there actually is, if you don't happen to be a specialist in that particular field. It was easier when mechanics was a novelty, you could just open the cover and see what was spinning inside.
