Agreed, I am also very sceptical about these types of claims.  320 kbps
is well documented as being virtually indistinguishable from lossless
formats.

Our audio memory is extremely short, inaccurate and very suggestible. 
We can easily fool ourselves into thinking a difference exists because
we think there "should" be a difference.  Certainly the difference
between 320 kbps MP3 and 16/44.1 PCM are absolutely miniscule compared
to the differences between DACs, amplifiers, speakers, room acoustics
and so on.

The reason to use FLAC files is that they make a good "archive" that can
be used to convert to other formats, or back to optical disc, without
additional losses. They also take less processing power to compress and
decompress.
