Ideally/hopefully it should only matter at the speakers i supose they
may not be perfectly linear pushing out or pulling in even in the best
of worlds who know how transients behave .

Or maybe you have not perfect convertion from balanced to single ended
conection somewhere in the system , with less than ideal electronics
transformers etc .

But then you need recorded material with known polarity to test listen
with .... ? Or be happy that your known to be good recordings sound
their best ?

Are there test signals for this ? you may need a scope ?
