A long time ago I got conned into buying monster cable stuff by the local audio shop. I mostly needed a long subwoofer line cable so that I could get the sub properly positioned. I think I spent $150-200 (back in 1999). That was a lot of money for me in my early 20s. The cable was even directional, and I didn't believe it, but I installed it "correctly" just the same.
Since then I've learned just how evil monster cable is.
