I could not agree more. While this thread is has been focused on the all-in-one speaker "solution" there are many other areas where digital technology can be a game changer. For example the lack of physical media required to distribute music, e.g. direct downloads, the ability to make bit perfect copies, e.g. digital piracy, and the ability to have one copy provide audio for many listeners, e.g. streaming. Yes I know all of these things are here today and not in the future but since the high end audio world seems to be about 10 years behind the rest of the audio world these digital wonders have barely made a dent in high end audio. To me it seems that for every step forward high end audio appears to take two steps back. So in the case of streaming audio where the Squeezebox system provided many workable solutions the high end audio world is mired in the laptop -> USB cable -> USB DAC -> amp -> speakers paradigm with the lusting after DSD thrown in for even more confusion. Go figure.
