Yes its is this messy :/ i just wish that the home hifi world could have used the same standard as pro audio they have predifned levels and a pro power amps usually have gain selection . (i had a SiriuS aka GamauT amp with this functionality it was bliss ) . The only thing you can say vs home audio that its is probably wrong and that you probably have some more noise than needed in your system .
