Title: RE: ACL - Payroll question

I'm writing from Peru, Tracey. I work for the government pension fund and use ACL for checking a myriad of conditions interesting from the Internal Audit group viewpoint, especially those data that are critical for deciding the amount of the pensions to be paid. Curiously enough, despite that the US is far ahead of Peru when it comes to technological resources, we also are among the very few (not more than ten) government entities that apply software tools for their IA groups.

Before being here, I've used ACL at banks, insurance companies, private pension funds, etc. and did equally well. However, I'm now using IDEA on a test basis and have found that the latter's Windows-based capabilities far exceed those of ACL.

Hope my grain of sand is of help to you,

Manuel Guevara, CISA

I am curious  - how many of you use ACL actively?

We have used it for an increasing number of applications, but I feel as if we are in the forefront on the government scene with it's use.  We have used it for payroll testing, vouchers, financial transactions, insurance, student financial aid, and contracts compliance (at least I think that's it).  What other applications have you used it for?
