In the wake of the corporate events that have taken place over the past couple of years, the company I work for has taken a fresh look at corporate governance, business ethics and business contingency recovery planning to name just a few.
 
Internal Audit has recently been asked to taking a fresh look at our conflict of interest policy. In particular I am interesting in learning what other companies are doing in regards to Background Checks.
 
("Background Checks" refer to criminal & credit checks performed by a third party provider)
  1. Does your company arrange for background checks on proposed Board of Director & Executive Management candidates?
  2. Does your company arrange for such checks on any other candidates for hire (not including agents/producers)
  3. If yes to either #1 or #2, do you distinguish between a criminal background check and a credit check or do you arrange to conduct both
