Completely
agree, I have
been on several workpaper automation teams at different financial institutions
and corporations and have looked at Deloitte & Touch, PwC and Arthur
Andersen’s packages. The real driver for these packages was the external auditor,
and once the hype was pealed away, none of the companies thought the bang was
there for the buck and passed. Microsoft
Professional, ACL, Excel Data Analysis add-in and a link to your ERP system
should be sufficient to get the job done. \Dan Daniel P. Healy Carpenter

Message----- Define manual approach.... green
shades, pencils, and paper???? For a seven person team, the most
affordable, efficient, effective, and simplest method is to use laptops with
Microsoft Office, virus checker, ACL, modem, NIC, etc. Next set up a
server with NIC and folders for centralizing administration, audits, other,
etc. and some word, excel, or access templates for scheduling, audit programs,
and reports. You can get some neat templates from the folks on this email
list. If you buy the hardware and software, I will gladly set this up for
you in exchange for an all expense paid seven day Mexico cruise for my
family.... :-) Use TeamMate or other robust automation
software if you have more than 20 auditors, produce more than 500 audits a
year, and have a blank check. -----Original Message----- Sponsored by International Quality and
