You might meet a build-bug which was fixed a few weeks ago.
Which version of aufs are you using?

But you may meet another problem if you get latest aufs, since you are
patch vserver. It is a long time ago (aufs1 era) when I tested aufs with
vserver. While I don't know what was changed in recent vserver, you may
need some extra patches to make aufs to follow the changes made by
vserver.
