After the first mount, "/mnt" is aufs. So in the second mount, you are going to mount aufs over another aufs. For the branch fs, you cannot use aufs. In aufs1 era, it was supported (CONFIG_AUFS_ROBR, "Aufs as an readonly branch of another aufs mount"). But it is dropped now. J. R.
