Because you are asking about the behavior of a kernel with at least two patches applied, Linux-VServer and auFS. And as you indicated by posting on both lists, you know the problem might be in either patch set - or in the combination of the patch sets. I never saw on this mailing list your response to JRO's request for additional information. Perhaps you didn't cc the list.
