Hello again,

In order to test every possibility, I'm trying to compile a more recent
aufs-utils to be sure (still on debian squeeze, old-stable).

It fails with:
"aufs-util for aufs3.0 and later, but aufs is
2-standalone.tree-32-20100125."

The README mentions that I might have an old version of headers
in /usr/include/linux/, which is provided by debian pkt
"linux-libc-dev", but debian documentation highly recomand AGAINST
updating these headers. From the kernel-package (sw used to build kernel
debian packages) doc. we can read:

"
make_libc_headers This is meant to be used by the libc6 maintainer,
when he compiles libc6, to also package up the
corresponding headers. DO NOT SET THIS as a
mismatch between the headers you package and libc6
may well create a subtle instability in all code
compiled on your machine. You have been warned. The
                   environment variable MAKE_LIBC_HEADERS overrides
                   this.
"

I will update the userspace at some point, but I hoped to be able to use
aufs-utils with this older system, to see if it resolves this issue.

Can I make an exception for aufs (with CPPFLAGS pointing to kernel
sources for example) or is there really a risk of instability?

Thanks,
François.
