Hello everybody.
I noticed that man didn't work for me in Slax recently (based on
Debian Buster) with the very same error message.
And I found how to fix that. I had to disable apparmor.
When I boot with apparmor=0 boot parameter, man works again
I am not sure if there is a way to configure apparmor to stay active
and allow aufs to work properly at the same time, but disabling
apparmor entirely is OK solution for me for now.
If you are interested, here is the testing ISO for download

You can add boot parameters in the syslinux boot menu.
