Jim,

just about all adapters use the same Chip. all of them are built in China. you 
would think that they all should work, but they don't. I find about one in 10 
is sub quality. 

I suspect they are susceptible to power supply noise, but it's a guess.

they are cheap, buy a few of them. throw the shitty ones in the bin.
